Jolene Smith has contacted the NP at her family health team to discuss concerns about her 14-year-old daughter, Cassie. Cassie has become increasingly withdrawn over the past few months and recently has significantly decreased her oral intake. Her mood has become more withdrawn and she is spending a lot of time in her room. She is not attending school but learning remotely.
Her grades have dropped significantly this fall and her teacher contacted Jolene to state that Cassie has not submitted some of her required homework and is not participating in class discussions online. Previously, Cassie was an energetic student who maintained high grades and was involved in many extracurricular activities including soccer, cheerleading and glee club.
