In Game 1 a reporter interviews a parent volunteer who expresses concern about the lack of school nutrition programs during the summer months in a city. Following this, a PHN Team meet to discuss the recent release of a Food Security report by the Social Planning and Research Council in the city. The team decide to complete a community assessment to gather primary and secondary information through various methods including windshield survey, Statistics Canada data, key informant interview, and a meeting with the Community Partners Roundtable.

Game focus:

In this virtual simulation, the learner will assume the role of a public health nurse who is conducting a community assessment exploring the population health issue of food insecurity.

Nursing students currently completing (or who have completed) a community nursing course, educators and practicing PHNs.
