Oliver, a first-time male parent with a 14-month-old, has scheduled a Zoom appointment with their nurse practitioner to ask questions about the MMR vaccine. They have missed the due date for the 12-month MMR vaccine. The parent has a university-level education and relies on naturopathic medicine instead of Western medicine as much as possible. He has a lot of questions because he and his partner have done their research online, have heard conflicting information and misinformation from online and family sources, and want to know the facts. Although their child has had their other vaccines, they are particularly concerned about the perceived safety of the MMR vaccine. The child has had regular well baby visits and is meeting all their milestones. They have their 2-, 4-, and 6-month vaccines with no side effects and tolerated them well.
