Mrs. Anderson is 70 year old female who was brought into the Emergency Department (ER) by her daughter with a recent onset of agitation and confusion. She does not know her name or where she is.

She had a history of hypertension and type 2 diabetes and has taken her medications this morning. The medications include hydrochlorathizide (HCTZ), metformin and they also started her on a correction or sliding scale in ER. These orders are on the chart. She hasn’t been eating or drinking well so she may need fluids. She has a 20G IV in her right forearm with NS at 75cc/hr.
